Tell us your story.

Without technology where would we be? It pervades all aspects of our lives. Personally, I grew up LOVING technology. From watching the Wizard of Oz on one of the first color television sets (my father was in the television and appliance business) to seeing Lee Harvey Oswald shot on live television and then watching Neil Armstrong step on the moon and not understand a word he said because of all the static.

What an amazing time to be alive. The promise of addressing some of the world's most intractable problems with scientific and technological advances and the promise of mobile technologies to bring advances to the far reaches of the planet.

Now I'm very tethered to the earth and acutely aware of all the problems that technology spawns. But I remain hopeful that in our digitally connected lives, we can achieve greater impact than ever before. And, I'm inspired by Millennials' passion, impatience and energy to make a difference and see real progress and impact NOW.

Many people have presented me with opportunities along the way as my personal vision has evolved over the years. But those 'angels' appeared as I expressed my hopes and dreams. The first key is to generate your own dialogue about what you want to accomplish and how you want to engage with the world and then be open to where it leads you. Then, the second key is to recognize when a door has opened and have the courage to walk through the door. You will be amazed at the new view.

What do you most want other women and young girls to know about being a woman in our digital culture?

To baby boomers, it's not too late to jump into the fray and keep learning how our world is transforming around us. And, the world is way too small to be indifferent.

To Millennials, you have an ally here...I, too, am impatient. It's an imperative that we have real progress and social transformation.

To all women and girls, you can do anything you set your mind to. Dream big, dream to be your own person, dream about how you can make a difference in big and small ways. Create your own vision for what you want in life. No one else can do it for you. After all, it's your vision. Find out how you can connect your heart AND your mind. That's the power of being a woman.

The Women in Tech campaign exists to help redefine what women in technology means in the 21st century. Started independently by a group of professional women who, after many impassioned discussions about women in tech knew we wanted to expand this definition beyond 'traditional' technology skills. To us, it includes most every current, emerging or evolving role within an organization. By featuring leaders and emerging leaders across industries who embody this we hope to collectively 'stand up', be proud of our place in the digital world and inspire young women or those new to the 'tech space' to get involved.
